You can find us Sundays at 11 am, on Facebook (Peoples Church of Flint), and YouTube (Peoples Church of Flint). Also we are be gathering again in person, and we hope you’ll feel free to join in. We’ll make sure online is always an option!
Will I be welcome?
Oh yeah. You can read it in our statement of belief. We welcome everybody! No exceptions. Peoples Church of Flint is enriched by our diversity. Our community includes white and black; straight, gay and trans; old and young; families, couples and singles; folks from a variety of religious backgrounds -- or none at all. Whoever you are, whatever your story, you're welcome here!
how do you communicate that virtually?
You’ll hear it in our voices. I mean our language, our theology, our sermons, our songs, our scripture readings, our non-scripture readings — all of it is chosen with “welcome” in mind. If you ever hear anything otherwise, email us and say so!
What’s worship like?
Sunday morning worship is about 40 minutes, and goes like this: we have a welcome and opening prayer, some instrumental music, 2 readings (usually one from scripture and another from a modern writer — maybe Nikki Giovanni, BH Fairchild, Joy Harjo, James Baldwin, Audre Lorde), a message (usually from Pastor Matthew), prayers, music, communion, and done.
Is there anything else happening during the week?
Yep. We have a couple of book groups and several fellowship times, all on Zoom. You can find those links in our calendar, here.
Need more connection?
During this weird time, we’re trying our best to stay connected and care for each other. If you need a personal contact — phone, email, zoom — just let us know, and we’ll connect. It’s a challenging time in our world, and we need to look out for each other. You’re not going through it alone!
